Free ICP Builder Define Your Ideal Customer Profile
A vague ICP is why most outbound fails. Fill in six fields industry, company size, geography, buyer title, pain point, and trigger event and get a structured ICP statement plus ready-made search filters for list building.
How this check works
- 01
You describe who buys, why, and when they are ready.
- 02
The builder assembles a one-paragraph ICP statement and a filter set (industry, headcount, titles, signals).
- 03
Copy the output into your Clay table description, Apollo filters, or campaign brief.
How to fix common problems
ICP too broad
'B2B SaaS companies' is not an ICP. 'US-based B2B SaaS, 20–200 staff, selling to finance leaders, that just raised Series A' is. Narrow until exclusion is obvious.
Missing trigger
Fit tells you who could buy; a trigger (funding, hiring, job change) tells you who is buying now. Always define both.
Example
Industry: Cybersecurity MSPs · Size: 10–100 · Geo: US · Buyer: Owner/CEO · Pain: unpredictable pipeline · Trigger: hiring a first sales rep.
FAQ
- What is an ICP in sales?
- An Ideal Customer Profile is a precise description of the company most likely to buy, succeed, and renew defined by firmographics, pain, and buying triggers.
- ICP vs buyer persona?
- ICP describes the company; a persona describes the person. Outbound targeting starts at the company level, then picks the persona inside it.
- How many ICPs should I run?
- One per campaign. Multiple ICPs in one sequence dilutes the message and makes results unreadable.
